I did the design/post (yeah, even the creepy music) for this short, 30 second psa, for hepB.org. Its goal was to raise awareness of the increasing epidemic of Hepatitis B among Asian-Americans, and encourage Asian Americans to get tested. For those who do not know (I didn’t before this), it is estimated that 1 in 10 Asian-Americans are infected with this disease, and Asian Americans making up one half of all cases in the US. Rather shocking statistics. The PSA centers on a single, simple, yet powerful shot, which I did not want to disrupt. However, I decided to drive home the message through typography, boldly placing key phrases in front of the actor. My friend who directed it later submitted this version to Hep B United Philadelphia’s 2012 “Be A Hero” PSA Video Contest, and it went on to win first place.
