This clip above is a portion of the video I worked on for the Golden State Foods sponsored “Leaders of Integrity” luncheon and awards ceremony by the non-profit organization “Ethical Edge,” in early November of 2014, at the main banquet hall at the Irvine Marriott. Picture this projected on about a 16 ft high screen, as it was shown at the final venue leading up the event. All credit for originally capturing the amazing nature scenes and pairing them with the M83 track “Lower Your Eyelids to Die with the Sun” goes to Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill of Project Yosemite. However, for the purposes of this event, I re-edited it and integrated all the sponsor logos into the shots as seamlessly as possible in 3D space inside of After Effects.
The event’s branding, spearheaded by GSF creative lead Jason Van Dorn, drew heavily from imagery of Yosemite National Park, along with the concepts of exploration, and navigation. It was his idea to integrate the time-lapse footage into the tone- setting pre-show loop, with the sponsor logos somehow interwoven, and it was my job to find a way to execute it in our limited time frame. The assets weren’t of the highest quality, and I found myself recreating several of the logos before creating mock nature and lighting effects, to help blend them into the scenes.
This footage was set up to loop seamlessly for a duration of approximately 30 minutes leading up to an event countdown. The event branding, show above a static shot of a Yosemite cliffside subtly animated by my colleague Josh Churchill, is cut to at the start and end of the loop, establishing the look and feel for the whole event.
