Low Poly 3D – Testing

I had been meaning to do this for a while, but I finally recently dove into trying out a “Low-Poly” style in Cinema 4D. All that essentially means is reducing objects to stylized and simplified forms, composed entirely of flat sides. It turned out to be very simple to achieve. I plan to use it in a few projects soon, but for now, I’ll leave you with this animated GIF of one of my early tests with a low poly object and a deformer:

AMA Sponsored Education Through Music Benefit Concert – Event Flyer

Here’s another quick e-flyer I made recently for the Los Angeles chapter of the American Marketing Association – this time, for a benefit concert it will be sponsoring late in the month of November. Students from board member and music teacher Bobby Borg’s UCLA Extension DIY Music Marketing class will be performing, and proceeds will benefit Education Through Music Los Angeles.

2013 AMA LA Halloween Mixer

Here’s another Halloween related post for everyone. If you visit the American Marketing Association Los Angeles website ( http://amalosangeles.com/ ) now through next week, you’ll find an e-flyer I quickly designed to promote the upcoming 2013 AMA LA Halloween Mixer. I took advantage of the free reign I was given to do some custom lettering. All the text you see on the top is hand drawn, starting with a quick sketch, followed by redrawing and refinement in Illustrator. I built the final layout in Photoshop, compositing a few other elements that I also drew in Illustrator.

Sleazy-E

In honor of the upcoming Halloween celebrations, here’s a creepy sketch of a sleazy looking devil dude. He looks ready to try to get you to sell your soul, purchase a used car, or sign up for a two year cell phone contract.

Gangnam Style

As an MBA student in the fall of 2012, I was enrolled in a course titled Design Management & Innovation, which required us to keep a journal of general thoughts and creative observations. I recently stumbled upon it and found this drawing among the entries. It was accompanied by the note – “How to become an international sensation: Gangnam Style Dance.” The song and its accompanying dance helped catapult its South Korean performer Psy to international stardom, and were peaking in popularity at the time. It was reminiscent of the 90’s Macarena craze (regrettably). My point was really that a dance, and generally, non-verbal cues and visuals, can help transcend language barriers. So if you want to have an international hit, come up with a dance. And a catchy chorus can’t hurt either.

Robby the Robot-ish

I was watching some oldschool Twilight Zone (thanks Netflix!), and I found an episode with a machine that reminded me a lot of Robby the Robot. It looked a little something like this:

Blogtastic!

Well, here goes nothing! So I’m starting a blog. I hope to get around to posting at least semi-regularly, with some of my latest happenings, random doodles, creative projects, thoughts on current events, and generally speaking, random things I find interesting.
